A rather long post. A few updates to talk about and some random thoughts about a few upcoming movies.
So last month for this blog I declared it to be 'May Movie Madness'. There are multiple reasons why. First off, I had many blog drafts in my draft folder so I figured I should probably get around to finishing them and publishing them before I get too lazy and forget about it. Secondly, there were an abundance of movies that came out during the month of May that I at least had some interest in. Thirdly, it was also to pay more attention to the statistics page for this blog. How many views do I average per month, what posts are more popular than others, etc.
The main reason to look at statistics is because I honestly have had some thoughts about shutting this down. While I like doing this blog, it does get a bit discouraging when a post only receives 'X' amount of views. Anymore if a post gets 10 views I'm thrilled. 20 views and I'm ecstatic. The 30 view threshold hasn't been met since a 'Miscellaneous' post last September. 40 plus views has only been met once, although I'm pretty sure that is a bit skewed since initially I kept looking up my blog going through Google to see how the blog looks . The twitter account for this blog has a grand total of
three followers, with one being my actual personal account and I'm about 95% sure that the other two accounts are spam accounts. I've thought about starting a Facebook page for this, but the failure of the Twitter account makes any thought for a Facebook page a bit discouraging. But my mind might change.
Speaking of statistics, here are the average blog views per month since I started this blog. Blog viewing numbers are in red, with the blue lines and dots standing for the number of blog posts per month. These stats are through June 1.
As you can see, things started off a little high, but that could possibly be explained by my habit of looking it up to see how it looks. I knew that I could just look it up through blogger, but I kinda wanted to look it up on Google and go from there. July I didn't get single post in at all. I was really busy with my summer job and blog posts just kinda fell by the wayside. Once I started blogging a bit more, the overall monthly blog views dropped by nearly 9 views. These monthly views became a little bit more consistent, although February had another drop by 4 from the previous month and the months following have struggled. Better than February's numbers, sure, but still low. At the rate this is going it'll only be a short matter of time before I start to average below 10 views a month for the 'X' amount of posts I wrote in a given month. At that point it's probably only some Facebook friends and relatives who have Facebook that are viewing them. If no one's going to read it outside of those my inner circle, then what's the point of publishing it online? I fully believe that if you enjoy doing something that you should keep on doing it. But sometimes realities have to be faced.
Well I think I've ranted about stats quite enough. On with the updates.

So on June 8th I will be returning to working at Camp Chief Little Turtle up in Pleasant Lake, IN. After three years of working as the director of the Buckskin program I will be working as one of the staff members for the first year camper program, called TurtleQuest. It will be a vastly different experience than what I'm used to working with at camp, but I think it'll be a unique and rewarding experience.
So with my job, I will have far less free time than what I have now. On my weekly nights off from camp, I usually head to a movie theater with a couple of friends from camp staff to see a movie. So there will still be reviews, but they'll only be once a week. Last year I got a little lazy but I'm hoping to stay on top of things this year. I've also thought about writing about TV shows that I watch, writing another personal post, writing a post about remakes, underrated movies, comparing and contrasting a book to it's film adaptation, a midway review of 2014, and a few other ideas as well. But, like I said earlier, I could always use more ideas.
Now, because of my personal financial situation, I will have to somewhat limit my movie watching. Poor money management on my part, not having steady employment over the last several months, and the soon to be beginning of paying off student loans have forced me to take things seriously and live off of a budget. If I keep spending money the way that I do I'm going to be flat broke by the end of camp and be in a hellish nightmare in regards to debt and student loans. So anyway I have budgeted money to see movies on my nights off from camp. If I end up missing a movie that I had some interest in, I will probably just catch it on Redbox in the fall. Or at a dollar theater in the fall. I
need to be working again once camp is over, but I'll talk about that more in the future. Seeing less movies would also help my finances, although my movie watching habit isn't what has me in the poor house.

Time now for some random thoughts. So in some rather surprising movie development news, Lionsgate announced that they would be rebooting 'Power Rangers' for the big screen. Yes, 'Power Rangers' is getting the reboot treatment. And I tell you what......it's about time. I know that the Japanese Power Rangers series has been running in various incarnations since 1975 and the American version has been running in various incarnations since 1993. I've never watched any of the Japanese series, but the American series has just kept downhill for years and years and years. I was surprised that people still watched it and bought the toys. I have said for years that the American show needs to end, and then be brought back with a completely new and original storyline that doesn't base itself off of a preexisting Japanese Power Ranger incarnation. I said that it could use some 'Matrix' style fight sequences and maybe 'Transformers' style action (or even 'Pacific Rim') for the use of the zords. Maybe my wish is coming true. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking. Either way, we'll find out once this project gets off the ground.

And now time for some movies that are actually in production. The untitled 'Batman vs. Superman' movie (and technically the untitled sequel to 'Man of Steel') finally has a title, that being 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'. Get it? Because the 'Justice League' movie is supposed to follow this movie. I don't know why it's just a 'v' instead of any variation of 'VS.' but I digress. They've recently started shooting in Detroit and director Zack Snyder has tweeted out pictures of Ben Affleck in the new Batman costume alongside the new Batmobile. The new Batmobile looks like a cross between an older version of the Batmobile with the Tumbler from Christopher Nolan's 'Batman' movies. It all looks fine. It inspires at least a little more confidence that this might actually be a good movie and a good casting choice, but we officially won't know that until 2016.
'Star Wars Episode VII' has also entered into production and is currently filming in London, with some second unit work being done in Abu Dhabi and Iceland. Hopefully the Force is with J.J. Abrams and company when this comes to theaters in December 2015.

Lastly, I need feedback. I need to know how I'm doing, and what I can do to
make things better. Positive reinforcement is great, but if I don't
know that something is broke then I can't fix it. By any and all means,
please leave some feedback. Commenting below, commenting on Facebook,
sending a message on Facebook, sending me a tweet, sending an email,
sending a snapchat, etc. I would like to keep doing this, and I would
like to hear some ideas for posts or anything that could make this
better. Heck, I partially why I watched and wrote about 'The Notebook'
was to up the view count. That ended up being the highest viewed post
for the month of May AND it was the highest viewed post for the 'I
Finally Watched...' series.
Well I think that's about it for today.
